Milbank, SD
![]() Milbank was incorporated in 1881 and is a city in Grant County, United States, located along the South Fork of the Whetstone River. At the last census in 2020, Milbank's population is 3,544.
Milbank was founded in 1880 when the Chicago, Milwaukee & St. Paul Railway first laid rails into SD. The name is in honor of railroad director Jeremiah Milbank and hence named after him. |

Did you know that Milbank is the birthplace of American Legion Baseball? The Program was created in Milbank in 1925 and is NOW enjoyed throughout all 50 states by more than 5,000 teams and by high school aged youth.

Thinking of relocating to SD? Milbank is just over the border from Minnesota. It has the small town feel with an outstanding school district. It sits in a great general location to other larger cities such as Minneapolis (3.5 hours), Fargo (150 miles), Sioux Falls (190 miles), or closer South Dakota towns of Watertown, Brookings or Aberdeen.
![]() Holland Grist Mill Built by English settler Henry Holland in 1884, the Milbank Grist Mill was completely reconstructed in 2009. This peace of history stands forty-four feet high and is fitted with four sails seven feet wide and thirty feet long. Tours and live demonstrations are available.

South Central South Dakota at the junction of US Hwy 18, Gregory is located in the heart of pheasant country at the junction of US Hwy 18 & 47 in South Central South Dakota. It is famous for its Gorilla school mascot and it's rich and deeply rooted hunting traditions. Francis Case Lake is a very scenic area on the Missouri River that is merely a 30 minute drive away. Anglers and boaters are attracted to the area.
